Major Support for the KinderPalliativTeam Südhessen
300,000 Euros for Neuropediatric Care: Business Eagles and FFBT e.V. Support the KinderPalliativTeam Südhessen

Major support for the KinderPalliativTeam Südhessen: The Business Eagles of Eintracht Frankfurt presented 267,000 euros for the "Neuropediatric Consultation" project on February 2, 2026, during a ceremonial check presentation. The donation supports the expansion of reliable neuropediatric expertise for children and adolescents with rare and complex neurological diseases and symptoms in their final phase of life. The Frankfurter Förderverein zur Bekämpfung von Tumorerkrankungen (FFBT e.V.) rounded up the funding amount and contributed an additional 33,000 euros in support.
This impressive sum was collected during the Business Eagles charity event in November 2025. The ceremony was attended by Eintracht Frankfurt's club president and supervisory board chairman Mathias Beck, the deputy supervisory board chairman of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG Sven Janssen, and the president of the Business Eagles Daniel Baumann.
From the FFBT, Ingo Söhngen, Prof. Dr. med. Kai-Uwe Chow, Bonita Wangerin, and Martin Ritt were present.
Dr. med. Ingmar Hornke, chairman of the Wegelichter Foundation, expressed gratitude on behalf of the KinderPalliativTeam Südhessen and presented the project once again during the check presentation:
The goal is to provide relief to families where specialized neuropediatric expertise is often not reliably available in everyday care – despite neurological diseases accounting for a large proportion of cases.
"Neuropediatric Consultation" Project – Need, Solution, Impact
Need
The lives of seriously ill children and their families are often characterized by uncertainty, fear, and worry. Neurological impairments are among the greatest challenges – medically, organizationally, and emotionally. In the KinderPalliativTeam Südhessen, nearly half of the children cared for have neurological conditions; at the same time, many children with cancer also suffer from neurological symptoms. However, the necessary specialized neuropediatric care often cannot be reliably ensured in standard healthcare.
Solution
The project finances a committed quota of highly specialized medical neuropediatric expertise. This enables therapy planning, crisis and decision support, case conferences, and coordination within the network.
The medical consultation is also available – when needed – to other pediatric palliative teams, doctors, nurses, schools, and institutions in Hesse. In addition, a sustainable network is to be established in cooperation with social pediatric centers and university institutions.
Impact
Families receive early relief and support in the comprehensive care of their child. Treatment decisions become more secure and precise, and regional healthcare is sustainably strengthened.
