Hassia - Golfing for a good cause
Around 80 golfers enjoyed the golf tournament last Monday at the Lindenhof Golf Club in Bad Vilbel. After a joint breakfast and a welcome from host and Hassia boss Dirk Hinkel, the guests - including former professional athletes Uwe Bein (soccer world champion 1990), Kurt Klühspies (national handball player), Jochen Behle (cross-country skier and national coach), Eva Pfaff (tennis player), Ervin Skela (soccer player) and Jörg Roßkopf (table tennis player and national coach) as well as long-time lottery fairy Karin Tietze-Ludwig. Among the ladies, eleven-year-old Sophie Han from China caused a surprise with a handicap of 2.8: she was the gross winner of the day. Her compatriot Tang Haizhao, who is the same age, came second among the men's gross winners. The youngsters had accepted an invitation from Hassia's Chinese sales partner. Tang Haizho was only topped by Jörg Wirthmann (Golfclub Lindenhof) as the gross winner. Among the professionals, Ari Kemal from Golfclub Miltenberg took the winner's prize.
Frank Piroth (Radio FFH) hosted the subsequent evening event and award ceremony. The donation sum of 25,000 euros was divided among several organizations: The Frankfurter Förderverein zur Bekämpfung von Tumorerkrankungen (FFBT) as well as the Stiftung Hessische Sporthilfe and the RSV Lahn Dill for its sustainable public relations work on the topic of wheelchair basketball in schools.
Andrea Buchkamp, Head of Fundraising and Press and Public Relations at FFBT, attracted particular attention and sympathy when she reported on the important work of the Frankfurt Palliative Team. Last year, the palliative care team accompanied 120 children with cancer and their families on their difficult journey. “That really touched those present and at the same time motivated them to pull out their wallets and donate to a good cause,” says Dirk Hinkel.
